A variety of enzymes mitigate the negative effects of oxidants, including a family of peroxidases called peroxiredoxins. Baker&#8217;s yeast that lack the peroxiredoxin Tsa1 exhibit elevated mutation rates. The goal of this project is to determine whether Tsa1 is a general suppressor of mutations in other yeast strains that exhibit increased mutation rates.
