Duties include (1) preparing samples for X-ray analysis, (2) operating X-ray instruments, (3) processing analytical data, (4) conducting quality analyses, and (5) training other students on preparation and analysis techniques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prerequisite Classes\/Skills Required<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>1) interest in Earth Sciences; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(2) dependable, responsible, and mature; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(3) able to work independently; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(4) attention to detail and accuracy; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(5) able to teach effectively and with patience; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(6) willingness to try new things, embrace challenges, persist in the face of setbacks, and learn from mistakes; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(7) previous X-ray safety training and X-ray lab experience preferred; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(8) ability to work the number of hours designated for this position<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Time expectations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>4 hours per week for 14 weeks<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Professors Meagen Pollock and Shelley Judge, Earth Sciences Department Project Description The research assistant will analyze mineral, rock, and sediment samples on X-ray equipment.
