The Academic Resource Center offers all College of Wooster students the opportunity to make a Kurzweil 3000 account. Kurzweil 3000 is a powerful software with both web and desktop options that provides accessibility options to assist in reading, comprehension, writing, and test-taking. Kurzweil does so by using many features such as:
Reading
- Text dictation in Word, PDF, EPUB, TRF, Daisy, and on the Web
- Reading of locked text in PDFs and images
- Reading of basic math with Talking calculator
- Options for text-to-speech with 31 voices and 18+ languages and dialects
- Customizable reading rate and presentation
- Ability to change background and text color and to cross-out text
- Options for OpenDyslexic font and text magnification
- MP3 file creation capabilities
Comprehension
- A built-in dictionary with speech and pictures
- Synonym button
- Vocabulary study guides in both English and bi-lingual formats
- Note tools for column notes, bookmarks, highlights, sticky notes, and voice notes
- Online reference tools
- Word translation of passages to 70+ languages
Writing
- Templates for outlines, brainstorms, and graphic idea organizers
- Word prediction functionality
- Speech-to-text
- Split screen format for use of outlines while writing
- Bibliography options for MLA8 and APA formats
Test-taking
- Options for creating tests with true/false, multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, short answer, and essay questions
- Lockable features for tests

Creating Your Kurzweil 3000 Account
Follow this link to get started with user self-registration.
- Please fill out the intake fields for first name, last name, and email address. (Please use your Wooster email address.)
- Select “College of Wooster” under School/org.
- For the External Id field, provide your Wooster email address once more.
- In the School/Org Other field, please type “CoW Student.”
- Once you have completed these fields, press the Add New button to create your account.

Install Kurzweil 3000 on a Windows or Macintosh computer for the most in-depth support, including working offline. In addition to features for reading, note taking, writing, and test taking available in www.kurzweil3000.com, enhanced customizations and robust document modification or preparation features ensure every student has access to equitable and fair learning.
