Even a bogus, or fake, threat can have negative consequences.  Prepare yourself today in case this happens to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to respond to a bomb threat at the College of Wooster<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>If you receive a phoned threat:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Remain calm &amp; do not hang up, keep the caller on the line for as long as possible<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If possible, signal other staff members to listen &amp; call 9-1-1 or Campus Safety at <strong>x3333<\/strong> or <strong>330-287-3333<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the phone has a display, copy the number and\/or letters on the display<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Write down the exact wording of the threat<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Record the call, if possible<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fill out the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cisa.gov\/resources-tools\/resources\/dhs-bomb-threat-checklist\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bomb Threat Checklist<\/a>&nbsp;immediately while the call is fresh in your head<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>If you receive or discover a social media or email threat:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Remain calm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do not turn off or log out of the account<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leave the message open on the device<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Take a screenshot, or copy the message and subject line<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Note the date and time<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Notify Campus Safety at <strong>x3333<\/strong> or <strong>330-287-3333<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>If you receive a written threat:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Remain calm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Handle the document as little as possible<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Note date, time, and location the document was found<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Secure the document and do not alter the item in any way<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Notify Campus Safety at <strong>x3333<\/strong> or <strong>330-287-3333<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Bomb Threat Awareness for College Students\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_wqethfKdXI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">CISA Bomb Threat Video<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A bomb threat is defined as a threat to detonate an explosive or incendiary device to cause property damage, injuries, or death, whether or not such a device actually exists.
