The office is dedicated to empowering students, faculty, and staff to attain their highest level of health while at Wooster and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-1479cdad158b790c5fd8bbbeac010f04\">ScotsLiveWell<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The mission of ScotsLiveWell classes, programs, and initiatives is to create a culture of well-being through preventive, educational, and equitable strategies that enhance holistic health. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-f5b450e602b1933a8ce29b99d43f205b\">Fitness Classes: Fall 2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Classes will not be held during fall break, October 5th &#8211; 9th, or Thanksgiving break, November 24th &#8211; 27th.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-54f7c87e951a83c14ea43e6eeeb063e0 wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Mondays: Mat-Based Pilates<\/strong> w\/ Zach Sharrow<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>12:10 pm &#8211; 12:50 pm: <\/strong><strong>Starts August 24th, ends November 30th<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Location:&nbsp;<\/strong>Andrew Aerobic Studio<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Class Note:<\/strong> This class is open to students, faculty, staff, retirees, partners\/spouses<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Class Description:<\/strong>\u00a0Strengthen from the inside out in this full-body Pilates class. Using precise, controlled movements, you\u2019ll improve core strength, stability, flexibility, posture, and muscular balance. Each session challenges coordination and control while building the strength and mobility needed for better movement in and out of class. Designed for beginners and those with yoga experience, this class connects breath with movement through a series of flowing poses, with options to modify or deepen postures. Expect a balanced practice that builds body awareness and mindfulness while leaving you feeling refreshed and grounded. You\u2019ll lift with intention, challenge major muscle groups, and then work through guided mobility to improve range of motion and reduce stiffness. Expect a balanced, full-body workout that leaves you feeling strong, mobile, and ready for whatever\u2019s next. Appropriate for all levels, with options to scale intensity up or down. Intensity: low to moderate<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-685f3cc7f5512565ea1f4e972b2f7705 wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Wednesdays:<\/strong> <strong>Strength Training<\/strong> w\/ Ayla Uhl<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>4:15 pm &#8211; 5:00 pm<\/strong>: <strong>Starts August 19th, ends December 2nd<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Location:<\/strong>&nbsp;Andrew Aerobic Studio<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Class Note:<\/strong> This class is reserved for faculty\/staff, retirees, partners\/spouses<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Class Description:<\/strong>&nbsp;This all-levels strength class uses&nbsp;<strong>dumbbells, kettlebells, and other resistance tools<\/strong>&nbsp;to build total-body strength, improve muscular endurance, and support better movement for everyday life. This class is designed to be approachable for participants with any level of&nbsp;yoga&nbsp;experience. This class blends strength, cardio, and mobility exercises that mimic real-world movement\u2014helping you build a body that\u2019s strong, stable, and ready for anything. Expect a mix of exercises using tools like kettlebells, resistance bands, dumbbells, and your own bodyweight. All exercises can be modified for all abilities. Intensity: low, moderate, high (modifications for all levels)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Fridays: Functional Fitness <\/strong>w\/ John Reynolds<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>4:15 pm &#8211; 5:00 pm: Starts September 11th, ends December 4th<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Location: <\/strong>Andrew Aerobic Studio<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Class Note: <\/strong>This class is open to students, faculty, staff, retirees, partners\/spouses<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Class Description:<\/strong> This fitness\u00a0class\u00a0combines resistance training with natural everyday movements to build a more resilient body. You will target muscle groups to improve your balance, stamina, and overall strength\/power. This\u00a0class\u00a0welcomes all levels of fitness as modifications will be provided. Individuals should bring water bottles for breaks\/rest periods as there will be moments of high intensity work movement. Intensity: low, moderate, high (modifications for all levels)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Instructors:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Aaron Bieniek:<\/strong>&nbsp;Aaron received his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Urbana University. With over a decade of experience as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach and Health and Wellness Specialist, Aaron has helped thousands of athletes and weight-loss clients reach their athletic and personal goals. Specialties include functional training, sport performance training, post-rehabilitation programs, individualized adult and small group training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Annie Yoder:<\/strong>&nbsp;Annie Yoder, ERYT 500, is a yoga practitioner-musician who grew up in the hills of Holmes County. She completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training through Cleveland Yoga in 2014, and her 300 HR Advanced Yoga Teacher Training (to complete her 500 HR training) in 2017 with Bodhi Yoga Academy. She also completed a Restorative Yoga Teacher Training in 2017 and Barre Training in 2018. She has completed additional education in yoga anatomy, philosophy, handstands and contortion. Annie also has a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Bluffton University and enjoys playing out and writing\/recording whenever she can.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ayla Uhl<\/strong>: Ayla Uhl, MHA, CPT, focuses on personal training, group exercise instruction, and functional training. She has a bachelor&#8217;s degree in exercise science, as well as a master&#8217;s degree in health administration. Ayla is certified by the National Exercise Trainers Association and works at HealthPoint in Wooster, OH. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Emily Baird:<\/strong>\u00a0Emily Baird (she\/her), MS, RYT-500, began practicing yoga over 10 years ago, when she was introduced to it by her mother. Emily loves to learn and teach about movement, and her classes are infused with themes of mindfulness, anatomical principles, and self-acceptance. In addition to teaching yoga, Emily is an assistant professor in the Theatre &amp; Dance department, where she runs the College\u2019s modern dance program. She also serves as the founder and artistic director of Drift Dance Collective, a nonprofit dance company based in the Cleveland area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>John Reynolds:<\/strong> John Reynolds is an AFAA Certified Group Fitness Instructor and has been involved with fitness and strength training for 20+ years. Over the years, he has trained for organized sports (football, wrestling, track), triathlons and obstacle races, and currently hockey. He has explored Pilates, Yoga, HIIT, and Functional Fitness training (strength\/powerlifting) to improve his overall understanding of the body and hopes to use this information and knowledge to share with other individuals looking to grow in their own fitness goals. In addition to teaching fitness classes, John is the Sr. Director of Student Life, Residence Life &amp; Community Standards at the College. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Rachel David:<\/strong>&nbsp;Rachel is a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher and Certified Health Education Specialist. She has been teaching yoga since 2013, and specializes in yoga and mindfulness practices for beginner students. Rachel has completed additional trainings on yoga mindfulness for anxiety and depression, yin yoga, insight meditation, and the chakras. She has master\u2019s degrees in clinical counseling and public health, and works at the College as the director of community health promotion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Steven Carriker:<\/strong>&nbsp;Steven is a licensed massage therapist, certified yoga teacher, and has studied strength training, nutrition, soft tissue manipulation, bodywork, and mobility. He owns and operates a massage therapy office and yoga studio in Wooster. Steven&#8217;s favorite sports and healthy activities are roller figure skating, yoga\/stretching, and hitting the gym. You can find him cooking delicious vegan meals, or building his homestead in Wooster.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Zach Sharrow:<\/strong>&nbsp;Zach has worked in the Wooster Libraries since 2014. He began a regular yoga practice in 2020 after many years of a sedentary lifestyle, and he earned his teaching certification in the same year. Since then, he has taken additional training in barre, pilates, and more. He enjoys combining inspiration from all these practices to create classes that emphasize mobility, movement quality, and mind-body connection.
