Incomplete OPT packets will be delayed **<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ISS can only recommend OPT for you \u2013 the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) must then adjudicate it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For regulatory information, check out the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uscis.gov\/working-united-states\/students-and-exchange-visitors\/students-and-employment\/optional-practical-training\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">USCIS OPT webpage<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Application Checklist<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>___ Form I-765<br>___ New I-20 for OPT<br>___ Copies of all previous I-20s<br>___ Academic Progress Report<br>___ Copy of the name page and photo page of your passport<br>___ Copy of visa page<br>___ Print out your most recent&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/i94.cbp.dhs.gov\/I94\/#\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">I-94<\/a><br>___ Copies of all previously issued Employment Authorization Documents (EAD cards) &#8211; front and back if applicable<br>___ Two (2) recent color passport photographs<br>___ Application fee<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Application Timeline<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>You may apply up to 90 days prior to the completion of your program and up to 60 days following your program end date.<\/li><li>The OPT application must be properly filed with the appropriate USCIS center within 30 days of the date that we prepare your I-20 for OPT. For more information, contact Jill Munro.<\/li><li>You can select the starting date of employment any time within 60 days after your program completion date. You will discuss this more with Jill during your OPT meeting.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Form I-765<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Complete and sign the form I-765. If you choose to handwrite the information, use&nbsp;<strong>black ink<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Email the completed form to yourself so we can access it during your appointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do&nbsp;<strong>NOT<\/strong>&nbsp;use E-File.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Item #16: the code for post-completion OPT is (c) (3) (B).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Use the following as your application address:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The College of Wooster<br>1189 Beall Avenue\/CDI<br>Wooster, OH 44691<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>New I-20 for OPT<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Photocopy all THREE pages. During your appointment, we will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Determine your requested starting date for employment, which may be no more than 60 days after the program end date<\/li><li>Submit your employment request into SEVIS<\/li><li>Print your new I-20. You will keep the original and the copy will be submitted as part of your application<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Academic Progress Report&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The academic progress report (part of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/livewooster.sharepoint.com\/:b:\/s\/InsideMigration\/ERaUZiDV2OxHkv-qyaiMU1QBukXUXhk5xPCwnwaQTO1Ffw?e=0QFK7I\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">OPT Overview packet<\/a>&nbsp;) requires secure signatures from BOTH the Registrar and your I.S. Advisor(s).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Copy of Name &amp; Photo Pages of Passport<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If the extension of validity of the passport is on another page, be sure to include a copy of that page also.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Copies of All EAD Cards<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You would only have an EAD card if you have previously been approved for off-campus employment through OPT or economic hardship in the past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Passport Photographs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>These&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/travel.state.gov\/content\/passports\/english\/passports\/photos\/photos.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">photos<\/a>&nbsp;must be taken within 30 days of filing your OPT application, and must conform to USCIS specifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can have these photos taken at Walmart, Rite Aid, Buehlers (Milltown), or&nbsp;<strong>here on campus in the bookstore.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Be sure to write your name and I-94 number on the back of each photo in pen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Application Fee<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Make your check or money order for $410 payable to \u201cU.S. Department of Homeland Security\u201d. Personal checks must have the account holder\u2019s name and current address printed on them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If writing a check, write \u201cOPT processing\u201d on the memo line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Material on this Web site is general and for informational purposes only.
