Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.\u2019s work and vision on matters relating to civil rights and social justice, activism, responsibility, and engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2021 Speaker:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mamoudoundiaye.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mamoudou N&#8217;Diaye &#8217;14<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2020 Speaker:&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kimistry.net\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kimberly Brazwell<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2019 Speaker:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.darnelllmoore.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Darnell Moore<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2018 Speaker:&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nataliewarne.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Natalie Warne<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2021 Keynote Speaker<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/inside.wooster.edu\/msa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2021\/04\/mlk-ndiaye.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12\" srcset=\"https:\/\/inside.wooster.edu\/msa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2021\/04\/mlk-ndiaye.jpeg 500w, https:\/\/inside.wooster.edu\/msa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2021\/04\/mlk-ndiaye-300x240.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Mamoudou N&#8217;Diaye &#8217;14 is a Mauritanian-American comedian, tv\/film writer, filmmaker, activist\/creative consultant for issues of racial justice, climate justice, and mental health, DJ, and a former 7th grade teacher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>N&#8217;Diaye has been a correspondent for digital media companies Mic and Seeker, a creative comedy consultant for social justice nonprofits Color of Change, Hip Hop Caucus, The Center for Cultural Power, and The Center for Media and Social Impact, and a winner of 2019&#8217;s Yes And Laughter Lab for his pilot,&nbsp;<em>Franklin,<\/em>&nbsp;about the black kid from the&nbsp;<em>Peanuts<\/em>&nbsp;comic strip. He has written and appeared in the Comedy Central Original&nbsp;<em>They Follow<\/em>, written for&nbsp;<em>Refinery29&#8217;s After After Party,<\/em>&nbsp;and currently works as a writer on Amazon&#8217;s upcoming&nbsp;<em>Exploding Kittens<\/em>&nbsp;and the second season of&nbsp;<em>Netflix&#8217;s Space Force.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>N&#8217;Diaye is currently developing&nbsp;<em>By Us, For Us<\/em>&nbsp;(aka BUFU), a late-night sketch\/talk show centering Black voices, for Color for Change,&nbsp;<em>Flyovers<\/em>, a half-hour dramedy about being Black and African in the rural Midwest, And&nbsp;<em>DC&#8217;s Number Two Detective Agency,<\/em>&nbsp;an animated half-hour comedy set in the DC Universe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>N\u2019Diaye holds a degree in cognitive behavioral neuroscience from the College of Wooster and is a 2020 Sundance Fellow for his pilot&nbsp;<em>Griot<\/em>, an animated anthology centering stories in the African diaspora.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">MLK is going virtual for 2021!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In the interest of the safety and health of our campus community, we will gather virtually to recognize Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year\u2019s theme is&nbsp;<strong>The Fierce Urgency of Now: Education as Transformation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. led the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, he described a \u201cfierce urgency of now.\u201d Education as transformation is a challenge to take what one learns beyond a classroom or a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/inside.wooster.edu\/msa\/justice-dialogues\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/inside.wooster.edu\/msa\/justice-dialogues\/\">Justice Dialogue<\/a>&nbsp;and turn that same knowledge toward action and social justice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Each year the Wooster campus community takes time to engage in meaningful exploration and dialogue about issues that connect with Rev.
