DESCRIPTION:February 11\,  March 4 & April 12-3 pmSussel Gallery \n\n\n\nEnjoy live Jazz as you stroll the Sussel Gallery viewing Essential Matter! \n\n\n\nRobert Stark (Wooster ’23) is a senior music composition major.  They play lead alto saxophone for the College of Wooster Jazz Ensemble and have performed with the Wooster Jazz Combo.  They also serve as one of the co-music directors of The Dukes\, Wooster’s only jazz a cappella group.  Their senior independent study project\, entitled Missing Indigo\, is an experimental rock album.  After graduation\, they intend to take a gap year to work\, save money\, and write as much as possible before master’s degree in music composition.

DESCRIPTION:The artists in this exhibition have strategically sourced and transformed the materials from which their work was made. In each case\, the meaning of the artwork hinges on this process—none of them could be composed from wholly new materials. Their essential origins and fundamental characteristics are carried through into new creations.  \n\n\n\nIssues these artworks and their makers grapple with are deeply human and universal—the ways that we relate to our built\, designed\, and inhabited environments; stewardship of the ecosystem; our relationships and communities; how we imagine\, create and invent; and the nature of art itself.  \n\n\n\nSussel Gallery
