The College of Wooster provides students with meaningful opportunities to advance their academic and professional goals. Student Employment offers a wide variety of on-campus jobs, internships, and research positions as well as several opportunities with local off-campus organizations. Federal Work-Study and non-Work-Study positions are both available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Required Employment Forms <\/strong><\/span><\/i><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/div>

To be eligible for student work, students must verify their eligibility to work within the United States by presenting original documentation as required on page 3 of the I-9 form<\/strong><\/a>. Photocopies and faxed copies of documents cannot be accepted. 

Students will also need to fully complete the following four forms at any time, after accepting a position, but within 3 business days once the position is started:

– Form I-9
– Federal W-4
– State IT-4
– Direct Deposit Form

Communicate with your student employment supervisor if you cannot complete these forms within a week of receiving your offer.

F-1 students can apply for a Social Security Number (SSN) after receiving a job offer; the Social Security Administration (SSA) requires proof of employment to issue an SSN to F-1 students. F-1 students will need to apply for their SSN to comply with payroll and tax requirements, but they can begin working and even be paid prior to receiving their SSN, pending they have provided Human Resources with a copy of their SSN Receipt. The International Student Services Office<\/a><\/strong> will assist F-1 students with applying for their SSN.

Community<\/strong> Federal Work-Study Opportunities (off-campus)<\/strong><\/span><\/i><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/div>

The Federal Community Work Program is designed to help improve the quality of life in the greater Wooster Community and Wayne County. Students are given the opportunity to participate in this program and work with local non-profit organizations in fields such as health, child and adult care, welfare, education, tutoring, and community improvement. To qualify for federal community work-study opportunities, students must receive federal work-study funds.

Maximum Hours<\/strong><\/span><\/i><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/div>

Student workers should not work more than 20 hours per week during the academic year. Students are only eligible to work up to 40 hours when the entire work week does not have instructional days. Instructional days are days with classes or exam periods. 

Students studying at the College of Wooster on an F-1 visa are to pay special attention to the limits on hours worked. Not complying with this guideline is a violation and can affect visa status. It is the student worker\u2019s responsibility to ensure that they are staying within these hours.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Schedule<\/strong>

Students are paid on a\u00a0bi-weekly schedule<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0

we recommend that enter your hours daily, but you may wait until the end of each pay period, but please make sure not to select the “approval” checkbox in the program until you are sure that you have entered all your hours for the designated pay period.

Time entry must be completed correctly and submitted to the supervisor by the scheduled deadline. Time entry must have the supervisor’s approval (or the approval of a designated alternate) to be processed according to the schedule.

Please refer to the payroll schedule to see the time entry deadlines. You must submit your hours by the time entry submission deadline or you will be locked out, and may not get paid for those hours until the following pay period.

If you realize you missed the deadline and did not submit your hours, contact the Payroll Office for a manual timesheet. \u00a0
