There are two type of events to know about:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Town Halls\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>for hosting a large-scale event<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>when you need high-quality content sharing or streaming capabilities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the experience is mostly consumption-based for attendees<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>you&#8217;re providing extensive coverage of an even (up to 30 hours)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Webinars\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You need participants to register for the even to set capacity limits or waitlists<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Branding themes like brand images, banners and color themes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Presenters should have bios to market the event to internal or external users<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please note that while Live Events is no longer being discontinued, it is recommended to use Town Halls for your Live Event needs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">If you are inviting an external guest speaker to your event, you might consider sending them <a href=\"https:\/\/inside.wooster.edu\/technology\/participating-in-a-meeting-as-a-guest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tips <\/a>on the Teams interface if they are unfamiliar with the software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:26% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"620\" height=\"747\" src=\"https:\/\/inside.wooster.edu\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/83\/2024\/05\/Screenshot-2024-05-29-084006.png\" alt=\"Options when selecting the &quot;New Meeting&quot; Drop down menu in Microsoft Teams\" class=\"wp-image-44943 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/inside.wooster.edu\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/83\/2024\/05\/Screenshot-2024-05-29-084006.png 620w, https:\/\/inside.wooster.edu\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/83\/2024\/05\/Screenshot-2024-05-29-084006-415x500.png 415w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>To schedule a Town Hall or Webinar, navigate to your Teams Calendar and select the drop down menu next to &#8220;New Meeting.&#8221; You will be asked to select the type of Live event you are looking to create. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"town-halls\">Town Halls<\/h2>\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In&nbsp;<strong>Details<\/strong>, enter basic info, designate presenters, and more:\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" style=\"list-style-type:lower-alpha\">\n<li>Enter the event title, start and end date, and description.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>By default, the&nbsp;<strong>Organizer&nbsp;<\/strong>is the person who created the town hall.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In&nbsp;<strong>Event group<\/strong>&nbsp;&gt;&nbsp;<strong>Co-organizers<\/strong>&nbsp;or&nbsp;<strong>Presenters from your org<\/strong>, search and select other people who will help manage the town hall. You can also&nbsp;add external presenters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Note:&nbsp;<\/strong>Co-organizers will have most organizer capabilities but can&#8217;t change&nbsp;<strong>Details&nbsp;<\/strong>(date, time, etc.). Presenters will be able to speak and share content during the event.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select&nbsp;<strong>Save and send invites<\/strong>&nbsp;to apply changes and invite co-organizers and presenters to the event.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In&nbsp;<strong>Event access<\/strong>, choose&nbsp;whether your event will be available to&nbsp;<strong>Your organization<\/strong>&nbsp;(members and guests of your org),&nbsp;<strong>Public<\/strong>&nbsp;(anyone invited or with a link to the event), or&nbsp;<strong>People and groups<\/strong>&nbsp;(only invited people and groups from your org)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In&nbsp;<strong>Invite attendees<\/strong>,&nbsp;search and select people you want to send event invites to.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select&nbsp;<strong>Save&nbsp;<\/strong>to&nbsp;apply changes and continue customizing your event.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select&nbsp;<strong>Meeting options<\/strong>&nbsp;to&nbsp;edit more settings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select&nbsp;<strong>Publish&nbsp;<\/strong>to&nbsp;schedule your town hall event and invite attendees.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>For more detailed information on adding external presenters, adding branding and more, visit the Microsoft Support pages on <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/office\/get-started-with-town-hall-in-microsoft-teams-33baf0c6-0283-4c15-9617-3013e8d4804f\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Town Halls<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"webinars\">Webinars<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Webinars create the opportunity to have participants register for the event, see presenter bios and have chat, interruptions and more moderated by a dedicated team behind the scenes. They also allow you to assign clear roles to participants:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Presenters &#8211; <\/strong>share their ideas or provide training<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Attendees &#8211; <\/strong>have audio and video permissions turned off by default and can ask questions in Q&amp;A chat<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On the&nbsp;<strong>New webinar<\/strong>&nbsp;page,&nbsp;enter the&nbsp;title and date of the webinar, its start and end times, and a description. You can also add presenters and co-organizers to the event.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Tip:&nbsp;<\/strong>Consider setting a later start time for attendees on the registration form to give yourself and presenters time to prepare together before the event begins.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>By default, the webinar will be&nbsp;<strong>Public<\/strong>, or open&nbsp;to anyone in and outside of&nbsp;your organization to register.&nbsp;You can change it from&nbsp;<strong>Public&nbsp;<\/strong>to&nbsp;<strong>Your organization<\/strong>, which will make the event page and registration available only to people within your organization<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the meeting notes section, you can add agenda items and notes, as well as assign pre-webinar tasks to presenters.&nbsp;This info is only shared with presenters.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Note:&nbsp;<\/strong>Attendees won&#8217;t see the details entered on this
