This year was my last as an STA, and somehow it ended up being my fullest one yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Building a Portfolio Website<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of my fall goals was to build a personal portfolio website to use for job applications. I originally planned to explore Wix<\/a>, Squarespace<\/a>, Notion<\/a>, or\u00a0Carrd<\/a>, but I ended up taking a different route entirely. I built the site using code with some help from Claude AI. It was a little unconventional, but I learned so much more than I would have from a drag-and-drop builder, and I ended up with something I’m actually proud to share. It has my resume, project entries, and an about section, everything I set out to include.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hosting My First Workshop<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goal I was most nervous about was also the one I’m most proud of: hosting my very first Premiere Pro workshop<\/a>. I spent the fall watching advanced YouTube tutorials, practicing shortcuts and techniques, and making sure I actually understood the tools well enough to explain them clearly to someone who had never touched Premiere Pro before. In November, I led a one-hour beginner video editing workshop for students on campus. It went really well, and getting to share something I genuinely love, video editing, with other people made all the prep worth it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 The Japan Vlog<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Going into spring, I planned to create a 10-minute travel vlog using footage from my Japan trip. What I didn’t anticipate was just how much footage I had. The rough cut came in at around 25 minutes, and cutting it down while keeping the story intact took a lot more time and thought than I expected. I’ve been applying everything I’ve learned over the past two years: color grading, audio mixing, and pacing, and I’m currently in the final stretch: adding captions, polishing transitions, and finding the right background music. I’m hoping to finish and upload it to YouTube before my very last shift as an STA. It feels like the right way to close out this chapter, a long-form video that captures a trip with my best friend I’ll never forget, edited with skills I built here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Design Work and IS Season<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even though Figma and Photoshop were on my spring goal list, senior spring had other plans. Instead, I channeled my design energy into something that ended up being just as meaningful: I designed all of the spring all-semester workshop posters and worked through a full checklist of design, polish, and publication tasks for each one. I also spent a good chunk of IS formatting season helping fellow seniors get their Independent Studies looking clean and polished, which, as someone who knows how stressful that process is, felt really good to be able to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s been a busy, sometimes chaotic, rewarding time while I’m working as an STA. I’m leaving with skills I didn’t have when I started, work I’m genuinely proud of, relationships that I cherish and am grateful for, and memories that I will carry on with me as part of my college journey in my 20s. Thank you to the whole STA team for being such a great place for me to grow!!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
