Double Majors

The Department welcomes double majors. If you pursue a double major, your music requirements are the same as for any other music student. The only difference is Independent Study, where the requirements depend on which music degree you pursue (see section on Independent Study).

Most music double majors pursue the B.A. in Music. Some choose to pursue the dual-degree double major, combining a B.M. (performance or composition) or B.M.E. with a B.A. from another department. Such paths are possible but demanding. To graduate in four years, these students typically take frequent credit overloads and even summer courses.
