VPN – Mac OS 10.13 or Later

Please Note: You only need VPN to access Colleague (Datatel), WordPress blog administration, change your password while off campus, and file shares such as the O: drive. Please disconnect when finished.

Introduction

If you need to access materials from our network when you’re not physically on campus, then you may wish to set up VPN on your machine. Follow the steps below to set up your VPN for personal use!

THE COLLEGE OF WOOSTER’S VPN ONLY WORKS WITH A macOS OF 10.13/ HIGH SIERRA OR LATER

Step 1: Download the .dmg Executable

  1. Access the VPN portal by going to https://vpn.wooster.edu 
  2. This will bring you to the PaloAlto GlobalProtect Portal page
  3. Enter in your wooster account credentials. 
    1. Click “Login“.
  4. You will be brought to a page listing the different versions of the GlobalProtect agent that are available.

  5. Download the 32/64-bit Mac OS version.

Step 2: Install the VPN executable

  1. Locate the GlobalProtect Agent you downloaded in Step 1 in your downloads folder.

  2. Double-click on the .dmg file to start it up.
  3. You should see this screen:
  4. Click Next.
  5. In the next screen, click on Install for all users of this computer.
  6. In the Custom Installation screen, click Continue
  7. On the next screen, click Install.
  8. Your computer may prompt you to enter your computer username and password to continue with the installation.
  9. (MacOS 10.13 and later releases only) You must acknowledge the system extension popup for GlobalProtect.  To install the system extension: Go to System Preferences->Security & Privacy->General and select Allow

Step 3: Configure GlobalConnect

  1. On the menu bar (located at the top of the screen), you should now see a small globe icon. This icon represents GlobalConnect, and handles any connections to the College of Wooster Network through VPN. 
  2. Click on the GlobalConnect icon. This will bring up a small menu. 
    ## Click on Status to bring up the GlobalConnect menu screen. 
  3. Navigate to the Settings Panel
  4. Enter in your Wooster account credentials (the same you would use to get into your email) in the Username and Password bars. 
  5. In the Portal dialog, type in vpn.wooster.edu
  6. Click on Connect. You should now be connected to VPN!
