The College of Wooster’s chapter of Phi Beta Kappa in collaboration with the departments of Biology and Earth Sciences hosted Dr. Prosanta Chakrabarty as part of the Phi Beta Kappa Visiting Scholars program which provides PBK campuses with the chance to engage with some of the country’s most distinguished scholars. Dr. Chakrabarty engaged with our campus community in multiple events over a two-day period February 5-6, 2026.

Dr. Chakrabarty presented a public lecture in Lean Lecture Hall entitled, “Why Teaching and Understanding Evolution Still Matters.” He also spent time with faculty and students. First, Dr. Chakrabarty presented to the Biology department seminar with students on the topic of Natural History in the 21st Century. He also made a class visit to Dr. Lehtinen’s Natural History of Vertebrates class.
