Information for Retiring Faculty

(Synopsis of various sections of the Faculty handbook)

Services & Software applications

Retirees may access certain College technology services and software applications. Whether we can extend use depends on the provisions of our licenses.

  • Wooster.edu email and inclusion in the “retired faculty” email list
  • Basic Microsoft 365 applications, including Office
  • On-campus authenticated network
  • Access to Colleague Self-Service (aka: “self-service,” “ScotWeb”) for payroll advices and W-2 documents
  • Copier/printer use for research projects (College ID required to activate device)
  • Technology Services Help Desk support on an “as possible” basis for the College technology resources noted above
  • Educational Technology and Technology Services workshops and on-line training resources where licenses permit

Technology Equipment

  • Full-time tenured faculty who retire are permitted to keep their computers on retirement if the computer is at least four years old.
  • Full-time tenured faculty who retire may request to purchase their computer if it is less than four years old. The cost of the computer is determined by Technology Services based on the equipment specifications, model year, and condition using pricing from re-sale websites.
  • Faculty members who are retiring at the end of the academic year in which their departments are upgraded have three options: (1) to not receive a new computer; (2) to “buy in” to the new computer with credit given for the remaining value of the faculty member’s current machine, as determined by Technology Services, and then retain the computer upon retirement; (3) to receive the upgraded system, then return it upon retirement. The determination of which option would be made by the Office of Academic Affairs in consultation with the retiring faculty member.

Upon receiving a reasonable request, the Provost and the Senior Director of Information Technology may make exceptions to these policies.
