What to expect as a class observer
There are several ways you might be invited as a Guest to a class session on Microsoft Teams:
- The instructor shares a meeting link with you via email or a calendar event to a meeting scheduled to a Class Team channel
- Join the meeting using the link in the email or calendar event.
- Assuming you are NOT a member of the Team:
- You will not be able to access chat during the meeting
- You will not be able to see other Team resources like Channels or Files
- The instructor adds you as a member of the Class Team
- You will get an email notification that you have been added to the Team. As a member of the Team you will be able to:
- Access the Team calendar and the meeting from the Team
- Access chat, files, wiki, and other resources in the Team.
- Joining the meeting:
- The instructor sends you an email with the link to the meeting or a calendar event with the link
- You will get an email notification that you have been added to the Team. As a member of the Team you will be able to:
- The instructor creates a Teams meeting calendar event in Outlook calendar or Teams calendar and adds you as an attendee
- You will receive an event invitation in Outlook
- The meeting should be available in your Outlook or Teams calendar
- The meeting is not associated with a Team and displays in your Chats area of Teams after the meeting concludes
- You have access to meeting chat and files
