Our Story
CEBID was founded in 2009 as the Center for Diversity and Global Engagement (CDGE). This was a nexus of programs and offices which coordinated to encourage and foster development of intercultural competency among all campus community members. In 2015, CDGE was re-imagined as the Center for Diversity and Inclusion (CDI). Located in Babcock Hall, The Center for Diversity and Inclusion consisted of four branches that served the diverse community at the College of Wooster. In 2023, CDI moved into the newly renovated Lowry Student Center. In 2025, CDI became the Center for Belonging and Intercultural Dialogue (CBID) before becoming the current iteration, Center for Engagement, Belonging, and Intercultural Dialogue (CEBID) in 2026 with the addition of Student Engagement to the center.
