Rental Vehicle Guidelines

The following guidelines have been established to help us control the operation of our institution’s rented vehicles.

  1. The College of Wooster has a contract with Enterprise that provides pick-up and return of all
    rental vehicles to the local Enterprise branch (located at 5590 Cleveland Rd, Wooster) and open
    between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 pm. If you are unable to get to the Enterprise branch, rentals can be
    delivered to the Service Center between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. There will be a $50 delivery fee added
    for all rentals delivered to the College. Enterprise charges one day as a 24-hour period.
  2. For special cases, vehicles may be dropped off at the Service Center, 580 E. Wayne Ave.,
    Wooster. There is an extra $50 delivery fee on top of rental charges.
  3. Drivers must thoroughly inspect rental vehicles and document their condition before departure.
  4. When driving in the United States, its territories, and Canada, do not purchase rental vehicle
    insurance.
  5. When driving in countries other than the United States, its territories, and Canada, rental
    vehicle insurance must be purchased.
  6. Maintenance/Roadside assistance – Vehicles owned by a rental company are the responsibility of
    the rental company and must be contacted immediately in case of accident or malfunction. Please
    contact Enterprise at 800-307-6666 or 330-345-1441.
  7. Rental Vehicle Accident Reporting Procedures:
    Vehicle accidents can seriously impact the lives of those involved, both as drivers and as
    passengers. To minimize the long-term effects of those accidents and to ensure that they do not
    recur, the following policies and procedures are in effect:
    1. If a rental vehicle is involved in a collision with another vehicle, object or person or a
      one-car accident, such as rolling over and going into a ditch, the driver should call 911for Police
      and, if there are any suspected injuries to driver or passengers, request emergency medical
      assistance. All accidents are to be reported to the police immediately (no matter how minor).
    2. Contacts:

        If after hours or weekends, Campus Safety at 330-287-3333. Provide the following information:
        • Driver’s name and the vehicle involved
        • Location of the accident
        • Description of any injuries to driver, passenger(s) or occupant(s) of other vehicles
        • Indicate whether the police and/or ambulance have been notified
        • Indicate the medical facility where injured people have been taken
      2. Enterprise rental: 330-345-1441 and/or roadside assistance 800-307-6666
      3. If you are involved in a work-related accident or injury which results in one or more of the
        following: (1) significant work time lost; (2) significant medical emergency treatment; or (3)
        other equally significant disruption to the College’s operations, drug or alcohol test will be
        required. Contact the College at the number listed below for details or phone The Center for
        Occupational Medicine at 330-263-7270 (Leave a message if after hours)
    3. Retrieve the rental contract from Enterprise or the Transportation Office. This document serves
      as proof of insurance for law enforcement and includes the Enterprise Contract Agreement.
    4. Exchange basic information with the driver of each vehicle involved. Only the following
      information should be provided:
      1. Name, address and telephone number of the driver and any passengers
      2. Type of vehicle and license plate number
      3. Insurance company name and policy number
    5. Do not leave the scene of any accident until excused by the proper authorities.
    6. Do not make any statement regarding an accident except to the police.
