The Longbrake Student Wellness Center is here to help you link with additional resources outside of campus and Wooster for accessing health care. Please reach out to Wellness for help in accessing transportation and working through applying for emergency funds from the Dean of Students Office.
As was stated in previous communications to the community, “The College of Wooster is absolutely committed to providing comprehensive health care access to all students through the Longbrake Student Wellness Center and our partner providers. Student health is a cornerstone for our mission and a top priority. If a student needs health care services that are not available locally, the College will support them in accessing care as nearby as possible. For some types of reproductive health care, such as abortion, that may mean assisting a student in accessing care in another state, for example. As for all medical care, students are eligible to apply for emergency funds from the Dean of Students’ office to support urgent reproductive healthcare, including abortion.” -President Bolton’s June 27th, 2022 email
Planned Parenthood
This resource provides a broad scope of services including: birth control, abortion, primary care, STD testing and treatment, preganancy testing, cancer screenings, sexual heath education, HIV services, adoption services, prenatal care, and pregancy services.
A full listing of Planned Parenthood locations can be found by accessing Planned Parentood Website or you can call 1-800-230-PLAN (7526) to make an appointment. You will want to make sure that the specific center you want to visit provides the services you need – make sure to ask prior to making the appointment as all locations don’t provide all services.
They also provide a Period Tracker, Spot On, to track your period, cycle, fertility, or any method that affects your cycle including pill, patch, ring, shot, IUD, or implant. The Spot On download can be found here. “Spot On doesn’t make any assumptions about your gender, sexual orientation, or reproductive goals. This app talks about your period and birth control the way real people do (so, no pink flowers or butterflies). This app is fun, playful, gender neutral, nonjudgmental, and completely supportive of you and your cycle.” (from Planned Parenthood website)
