Sacred Spaces

Whether you identify strongly with a religious/spiritual tradition or are exploring your own path, the Sacred Spaces are designed for members of the college community to gather, learn, and cultivate respectful curiosity for religious diversity–On Wooster’s campus and beyond.

Each space is equipped with a variety of sacred texts and resources, items for ritual or meditation practices, tea kettles, incense, prayer rugs/beads, head coverings, and more (though you are always welcome to bring your own!). If there are items not currently present in the Sacred Spaces that would be helpful to add, please send us your feedback and suggestions by filling out the Sacred Spaces Item Request Form. We will do our best to honor as many requests within the scope of our facilities and budget capacity.

Please remember…

  • These rooms are for religious and spiritual practice. Sacred Spaces are NOT lounges for studying, napping, or after-hours hangouts. Mis-using these spaces negatively impacts others’ ability to engage with their traditions and cultivate well-being. This will not be tolerated by RSL. Frequent mis-use of any Sacred Space may result in a temporary or permanent loss of access.
  • Be respectful. Please do not remove any items from any of the spaces. Honor yourself/your experience(s) and others’. Be curious about what you don’t know and be open to new information (even from within your own tradition). If there is a special altar set-up in a space, do not disturb it.
  • Remove shoes and NO FOOD. In order to keep the Sacred Spaces tidy and ease burdens on custodial and/or RSL staff, please remove your shoes when you enter the spaces. Water and tea are permitted, but no food. Remove all trash you find and aim to leave the space in a better state that when you arrived. Please contact RSL if you notice any on-going issues.
