COVID-19 Recommendations

Going Remote Recommendations

In light of recent developments relating to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), faculty and staff members need to be prepared to accommodate students and team members who are learning remotely or need to work remotely. To allow students and team members to maintain their work under these circumstances, Educational Technology and Technology Services have developed these recommendations.  We will continue to build this resource. If you have any questions or wish to meet with a member of our team, feel free to contact us.

Our Guide to Working Remotely

What technology do I need? What applications can help me be effective (answer: use Office 365 and Microsoft Teams to keep in touch and stay productive even when you’re working remotely). How do I get to my email, files, and group work when I’m not on campus (hint: we encourage you to use OneDrive, Outlook, Groups, SharePoint, and Teams)? Don’t think you’re a 365 expert — don’t worry — visit this article for an overview of collaborating in Office 365.

Educational Technology Workshops and Video Resources

Visit Educational Technology’s post on our Continuity Workshops for the videos from our sessions.

All of our workshop sessions will be held virtually. To register for the workshops, visit our Events page.

Virtual Meetings — Microsoft Teams & Stream

To hold team meetings or class sessions virtually, the College-supported software is Microsoft Teams. Microsoft Teams is software in the Office 365 Suite that permits users to host video calls, chat, and collaborate on documents. *It is recommended to use the Teams client application. Teams is available in Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome web browsers. *not Safari browser*. See directions for installing Microsoft Teams for Windows, Mac, iOS, or Android.

Labs

Most options for labs involve an online tool that simulates a physical experiment such as Hands On Labs. This is something to explore. We encourage faculty to look to their professional organizations for guidance on handling labs in their discipline.
