The College of Wooster is a residential community of students, staff and faculty, working and learning together. Engaging with one another on a vibrant campus in planned and unplanned ways is critical to our mission and our identity, and learning takes place as students interact with staff across our campus, as well as in the classroom. Supporting students and colleagues effectively calls for an in-person presence, and students, families, and employees count on Wooster being a personal and responsive environment, with people available in their offices, answering calls, and ready to touch base informally in-person.
The College of Wooster expects employees to work on campus to the greatest extent possible. Under certain unusual circumstances, the College may approve an employee working remotely full or part time. Please note that remote work is possible only for certain jobs and may be appropriate for some employees and not for others. Remote work is not a college-wide benefit or entitlement. The final decision is always specific to the individual employee and their role.
The goals of the Flexible Work Arrangement and Remote Work policy
- to ensure the College’s mission as a residential college with a vibrant community of students, staff and faculty working and learning together,
- to be an excellent place to work,
- to ensure equity and fairness in access to work options and benefits, and
- to offer transparency, so that all staff have access to information about processes and opportunities.
