Professor Carlo Moreno, Environmental Studies Program

Project Description

We are currently working on multiple projects addressing local and regional issues of sustainable agriculture and restoration ecology. One project focuses on understanding the role of traditional ecological knowledge and sustainability in an urban, transnational garden in Akron, Ohio. Another project is focused on adaptive management of an invasive week species at a former brownfield-turned nature preserve in Rittman, Ohio. A third project is geared towards identifying soil management practices that facilitate the transition of a former industrial landfill to an organic lavender farm. We are looking for students that enjoy field work, would like to learn how to identify and preserve insect species, and that wish to engage in projects that address issues of sustainability in and around Ohio.
