The College of Wooster is pleased to offer insurance through LewerMark Student Insurance. This insurance is offered to all international students and global nomads (who qualify). International students are automatically enrolled. Global nomads must contact Terri Brigham in the Business Office if you would like to join the LewerMark plan. You can find additional information about the plan and its coverage at their Wooster-specific webpage.
Why do you need health insurance?
Health care costs in the U.S. are very high. A clinic visit may cost $200, an emergency room visit will cost at least $500, and an average daily hospital charge is at least $2500, not including the cost for such itemizations as medicine, surgery, and/or lab work.
All international students at The College of Wooster are required to carry the LewerMark Student Insurance (or waive it by providing alternate coverage). This plan is designed to supplement the services available at the Longbrake Student Wellness Center on campus.
Costs
The plan costs $750 per semester (pricing for 2021-22), which will automatically be added to your student invoice (or added upon enrollment for global nomads). The coverage will be valid from July 1 – June 30, so summer coverage is included. There is no refund should you return home over the summer.
Specifics
Any student enrolled with LewerMark coverage will have access to the Wooster-specific webpage, where you can access and print an insurance card and coverage brochure. The online ID cards can even be stored on your smartphone, if you choose. No matter which option you choose, always carry your insurance card. You will need to present it at the beginning of any visit to urgent care, a doctor’s office or the emergency room of a hospital.
