STA Reflection ’24 – Haweni

This past year as a Student Technical Assistant has been a journey of significant learning and skill development. My role primarily involved assisting faculty and staff with various technology needs, which pushed me to become proficient with the Microsoft Suite. Through numerous assignments and hands-on support tasks, I not only mastered the technical functionalities but also enhanced my problem-solving skills.

A notable area of growth was my ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with Moodle. Working closely with both faculty and students, I learned to navigate common and complex problems, ensuring that the learning process was seamless for everyone involved. This experience was not only about fixing technical issues but also about understanding the user experience, which is crucial in educational technology.

Additionally, I learned a lot about fixing printer-related issues.

Beyond these technical skills, this role has honed my communication and interpersonal skills. I’ve learned the importance of clear and patient communication, especially when explaining technical details to individuals without a tech background.

Reflecting on this year, I am grateful for the breadth of knowledge and skills I have developed. These experiences have prepared me for future challenges and opportunities in the tech field. I look forward to continuing this journey of learning and growth in the coming years.
