Hello, my name is Jessica and I’m one of the STA’s for Education Technology. As an STA, we assist with digital projects, create posts for Instagram, help with Independent Study formatting, and create blog posts to upload on Technology@Wooster’s website. We also learn and engage with emerging technologies such as Adobe, 3d software, and create workshops which are tutorials on certain programs. Some examples of workshops that are hosted are Canva and Blender. Our blogpost also consists of how to use a specific application, or useful tech information.

What made me want to become an STA is because I was interested in improving my tech skills. I also liked the idea of working on various projects. My time working here has been great. I’m a part of a subdivision of Ed Tech that deals with social media. I make posts for Instagram and Twitter for holidays as well as promotional content and design posters. It’s been a lot of fun and I really enjoy the aspect of bringing my creative skills, writing skills, and tech skills to use.

One valuable skill that I’ve recently learned is using WordPress. The STA’s have been assigned websites to move over from the Wooster website to make separate website for the Wooster campus community. It’s been cool seeing how to put together a website using this software. I’ve also been able to learn how to reformat the information in a similar way to the old website. If you’re interested in technology, learning software, and creating promotional content you should investigate the idea of becoming an STA.
