STA Reflection-Tyusha

Being an STA has been one of the most fulfilling jobs I’ve ever had, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue learning and contributing to the student community.

As a Student Technology Assistant, I have had the privilege of learning and growing in various software programs and troubleshooting skills. One of the things that I appreciated most about working at the Digital Media Bar was the chance to expand my skillset. Before becoming an STA, I had very little experience in resolving technical issues, but now I feel confident in my ability to diagnose and solve a variety of problems. It is incredibly satisfying to be able to help someone with a frustrating technology issue and see the relief on their face when the problem is resolved. Not only have I had the opportunity to help my fellow students with their technological needs, but I have also learned so much in the process.

In addition to the technical skills, being an STA has helped me develop valuable soft skills as well. Time management, patience, communication, problem solving, and critical thinking are all skills that I have been able to practice and improve on the job. These are skills that will serve me well in any future endeavors.

Lastly, leading and assisting with workshops has been an especially rewarding experience. It has been fulfilling to see students leave a workshop feeling more confident and skilled in a particular area of digital media.

The community-based atmosphere of the DMB has also been a highlight of my time as an STA. I’ve appreciated the support and collaboration from my colleagues and the Educational Technology staff. My colleagues and the Educational Technology staff are incredibly supportive and always willing to lend a hand. It is reassuring to know that there are people who are just as passionate about technology as I am and who are always eager to collaborate and share their knowledge.

I would highly recommend the position of Student Technology Assistant to anyone who is interested in technology and helping others. The skills and experiences that you gain through this job will serve you well in the future, and the community that you become a part of is a supportive and welcoming one.
