Faculty Members Document Trip on Blog

,

In May of 2008, a group of faculty members from The College of Wooster embarked on a trip across India as part of the College’s emphasis on diversity and global engagement.  The twelve professors were part of a larger group of Wooster Faculty who formed a reading group to discuss Martha Nussbaum’s book The Clash Within: Democracy, Religious Violence, and India’s Future along with President Cornwell.

The group’s goal was to immerse themselves in Indian culture, interact with the people of India and use their experiences to enrich the curriculum and the campus community upon their return.  While they traveled, the group collected digital “artifacts” in the form of images, video and audio. They also documented their thoughts and experiences on a blog.

By following the group’s travels on the blog, the campus community was able to share in the rich experiences and interactions the group were a part of. Day by day, readers were able to follow their colleagues as they traveled through the world’s largest democracy, gained insight into Indian culture and interacted with the diverse population of India.

The group’s blog can be found at http://discoveryofindia.cowblogs.wooster.edu/ and further details about the group and their trip can be read in the college’s press release.
