Over the last 2 years as an Ed Tech STA, I have been able to learn an abundance of technological skills. I have been able to learn and work with software such as Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, Blender, SketchUp, Audacity, and many more.
The things I enjoyed most about working at the Digital Media Bar were the working environment and the opportunity to learn while on the job. Before working at the DMB, I had only worked with Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, Canva, and some Photoshop. Working there gave me the opportunity to master the skills I already had and to learn new ones. As someone who has always worked with Windows operated computers, I was able to learn to work with Mac for the first time. Now I know how to do things on Mac that even some Mac users do not know how to do. The working environment was friendly, community based, and my higher ups only had realistic expectations of each worker. I have led and assisted with workshops for Adobe After Effects, Canva, and formatting in Microsoft Word. I have also helped many individuals with digital media projects. Being an STA has allowed me to develop or improve soft skills such as time management, patience, communication, problem solving, and critical thinking.
Being an STA has been a wonderful experience, and if I could find one like it in the future, I would take it.
