Get to Know Adobe Premiere Pro

Learning Objective:

By the end of this session, you will be able to navigate Adobe Premiere Pro’s interface and perform basic video edits.

Agenda

Confirm Adobe Premiere Pro is open and functioning before starting.

1. Create a New Project

  1. Open a new Premiere Pro project
  2. Name and save the project properly
  3. Import media files
  4. Organize footage into folders (bins) in the Project Panel

2. Navigate the Interface

  1. Overview of the workspace (Timeline, Program Monitor, Tools, Effects)
  2. Understanding video and audio tracks in the timeline
  3. Shortcut keys for navigation and playback

3. Basic Editing

  1. Cut and trim clips
  2. Rearrange and extend clips on the timeline
  3. Adjust clip speed, position, and duration
  4. Add transitions between clips

4. Add Text, Captions, and Audio

  1. Add and customize subtitles or captions manually
  2. Use Adobe’s Speech-to-Text feature to auto-generate captions with AI
  3. Import and layer background music or sound effects

5. Export Settings

  1. Review common export formats and presets (H.264, 1080p, YouTube, etc.)
  2. Export and save the final video file
