Ohio Housing Officers Spring 2024 Business Meeting

The College of Wooster Residence Life Staff is excited to host the Ohio Housing Officer Spring 2024 Business Meeting on Friday, April 19, 2024. Please review this website for registration links for OHO schools and payment information.

About OHO

The Ohio Housing Officers Conference (OHO) is held by the Great Lakes Association of College and Housing University Housing Officers (GLACUHO) which is a regional affiliate underneath the Association of College and University Housing Officers – International (ACUHO-I) which serves to advance the practices and address the concerns of housing professionals in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio.

GLACUHO was the last regional affiliate to be formed, with its first conference being held in 1973 at Kent State University, though at the time it was known as the Great Lakes Region Housing Officers (GLRHO). This meeting provided a venue for the exchange of ideas between those who had previously been able to attend ACUHO-I as well as those who had not. The year 1983 saw the association grew closer to its modern iteration due to changes voted upon which shifted the time of the yearly meeting and which shifted the Vice President Position to President-Elect.

With a rich history of allowing housing professionals to take on new perspectives, the 2024 OHO Conference will continue this legacy through offering the same opportunity to schools and Housing Professionals throughout Ohio. The College of Wooster is excited to host this opportunity and welcome our colleagues from across the great state of Ohio to join us on April 19th for the Spring 2024 OHO business meeting.

Is there an opportunity to present at OHO?

We would encourage housing professionals to present and share their innovative ideas or best practices with other colleagues in the states.  We highly recommend presenters address topics in alignment with the ACUHO-I Core Competencies but all presentation proposals are welcome. Proposals should be submitted through the OHO registration form by March 1st so our team can review and notify approved presenters prior to the event. If you have already completed your registration and would like to submit a proposal, please email Johnathon Reynolds at joreynolds@wooster.edu. Please include your presentation title, description, and associated presenter names/emails in this email.

What topics will be covered in the presentations and roundtables at OHO?

We aim to provide topics most relevant to the interests of all OHO attendees. While our focus for topics will largely relate to the ACUO-I imperatives and Core Competencies, we ask that all attendees indicate areas or topics of interest in their registration form.

Who attends OHO?

OHO is available to any housing professionals working in the state of Ohio. Individuals from multiple professional levels are encouraged to attend the event and may be split out during round table discussions to connect with other peers of similar professional experience.

What is the dress code at OHO?

OHO attendees are encouraged to dress business casual/represent their institutions. Attire for the social on Thursday night is casual.

What would you recommend I bring with me to OHO?

OHO attendees should bring what they feel comfortable but we encourage attendees to consider bringing a water bottle, business cards, pen and paper, and an umbrella in the event of precipitous weather. We are also encouraging all attendees to bring campus swag for a swag raffle during the course of the day.
